Publishing with Bow’s

The services provided to authors whose manuscripts have been accepted

 

Editing

The Bow’s team will provide authors with minor developmental edits, line edits, copy edits, proofreading, and formatting.

Cover Design

Professionals at Bow’s Bookshelf will create and design covers.

Promotion

Authors and their stories will be promoted on social media accounts prior to, during, and after their book launches.

Launch + Distribution

Books will be announced on social media, put on the sites of major distributors, and submitted to be put in physical retail locations.

 

Expectations for submitted manuscripts

 
  • Has a well-developed storyline

    Needs minimal, if any, editing

    Contains appropriate themes that are in alignment with the target age group

    Is in Standard Manuscript Format

    Submitted as a Word Document or PDF

  • Has both an illustrator and an author (unless the author is also the illustrator). Royalties will be split equally between both parties unless a different arrangement is agreed upon.

    Well-developed storyline

    Needs minimal, if any, editing

    Must have cover art made by the illustrator (Bow’s Bookshelf team will handle cover design)

  • Well-developed storyline

    Must have permission from a guardian (a permission form will be sent over if the manuscript is accepted)

    Only applicable to picture books:

    Has both an illustrator and an author (unless the author is also the illustrator). Royalties will be split equally between both parties unless a different arrangement is agreed upon.

How to submit:

Send the file containing the first 3 chapters of your manuscript (full manuscript for picture books), synopsis, and query letter to Acquisitions@BowsBookshelf.com with the subject line stating your name and the type of story you are submitting followed by the word “submission” (example: Jane Doe — By Kids, For Kids Submission).

We also ask that you send an author/illustrator bio and links to your author/illustrator social media pages (if applicable).

Depending on the length of the manuscript, we will get back to you in 8-12 weeks at the latest.

Note: You do not need an agent to submit. Bow’s Bookshelf takes pride in considering agented and unagented manuscripts equally.
